The Best of Steely Dan is a transcription book featuring their hits over several albums. The book is reasonably transcribed, with some small errors in naming chords and other mistakes that cause confusion. The print and formatting is too small, and the cramming of six measures per line hinders its readability. The concert of the book, Mr Heinink, did a great job of transcribing the sax solo of Deacon Blues but failed in significantly naming the chords correctly. Several other mistakes were noticed in different songs. Overall, the book is good for players who understand harmonic language and have good ears. Yet, for beginners, this book would likely cause confusion instead of helping them learn new chords.
