MXR Chorus M68 Editorial Review
The Dunlop Uni-Vibe Chorus/Vibrato, specifically the MXR M68 model, has garnered a mix of praise and minor criticisms from users, establishing itself as a reliable and versatile pedal for guitar enthusiasts. Users commend its faithful recreation of the swirling, psychedelic sounds reminiscent of legendary artists like Jimi Hendrix and Robin Trower. The pedal excels in higher depth settings for achieving that iconic “univibe” sound while still offering a more subdued chorus and vibrato effect at lower settings, making it adaptable for various styles. The M68 is particularly appreciated for its tonal integrity, as it does not alter the fundamental EQ of the original sound. Players who use clean amplifiers value its preamp features, noting that it can subtly enhance other pedals in the chain without introducing unwanted noise. The small form factor of the M68 makes it a favorable choice for those with space Constraints on their pedalboards, while its sturdy Construction and reliability add to its allure. On the downside, there are design concerns related to the placement of the power supply jack which can complicate the setup for users with tight arrangements. Additionally, the engagement of the effect is not as obvious due to the LED behavior, which may cause confusion regarding whether the effect is active or not. The button design has also been criticized for being too small and prone to unintentional adjustments. Overall, the MXR M68 Uni-Vibe is well-regarded among various models on the market and is often recommended for those seeking both quality and a compact design for their pedalboards, despite a few minor drawbacks. **
